Key Responsibilities of the Committee:

1. Development Planning and Project Formulation

It plays a pivotal role in preparing the Panchayat's annual plans and securing approval for them by presenting them at Grama Sabhas.

2. Key Development Sectors

This committee oversees activities in the Panchayat's crucial development sectors. These include:

Agriculture: Matters related to agricultural production, seed distribution, fertilizers, irrigation, etc.

Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development: Animal husbandry programs and the growth of the dairy sector.

Soil Conservation: Projects aimed at maintaining soil fertility.

Social Forestry: Tree planting and environmental awareness programs.

Minor Irrigation: Implementation of small-scale irrigation projects.

Fisheries: Development of the fisheries sector.

Small-Scale Industries: Promotion of local industries. Public Works: Construction and maintenance of roads, buildings, and similar infrastructure under the Panchayat (a dedicated committee may exist for this, though development-related matters fall within its purview).

Housing: Implementation and supervision of housing schemes.

3. Energy and Infrastructure

Rural electrification and non-conventional energy sources: Installation and maintenance of streetlights and other energy conservation initiatives.

4. Project Implementation and Supervision

Ensure the timely and efficient completion of all projects falling under the committee's jurisdiction.

Monitor project progress and make necessary course corrections.

Coordinate activities in accordance with the recommendations of working groups and Gram Sabhas.
