**Gram Panchayat Administrative System and Officials: An Overview**

Gram Panchayats form the fundamental unit of Kerala's decentralized governance system. To ensure the smooth functioning of the Panchayat, the administrative body—comprising elected representatives—works in tandem with officials from various departments.

**1. Administrative Structure**

Policy formulation and decision-making within the Panchayat are carried out by elected representatives. The structure is as follows:

**Panchayat Administrative Body:** The primary body consisting of the President and elected ward members.

**Steering Committee (Core Committee):** The key committee responsible for coordinating the activities of the administrative body.

**Standing Committees:** There are four main committees dedicated to various developmental activities:

*   **Finance Standing Committee:** Manages financial matters.

*   **Development Standing Committee:** Spearheads infrastructure development.

*   **Welfare Standing Committee:** Implements social welfare schemes.
